The Play Way

How to begin

From first enquiry to first session

Five steps. The first is intentionally simple.

The pathway

This pathway describes starting individual or relational therapy. Group offerings have their own booking or registration process, outlined on each offering.

  1. Enquiry

Start by completing the enquiry form that best fits your situation. The forms are intentionally brief and do not ask for detailed clinical information. They are simply a way to understand what brings you here and whether The Play Way may be an appropriate fit.

Not sure which one applies? Send a general enquiry and Kathryn will help you find the right starting point.

  2. Review & Initial Contact

    Kathryn reads each enquiry herself.

She may get in touch to clarify what you're looking for, answer any initial questions, and consider whether The Play Way is the right setting for the support you are seeking.

Sending an enquiry does not commit you to therapy or guarantee an appointment.

  3. Private Intake & Consent

If you decide to go ahead and therapy is considered appropriate, the relevant intake and consent forms will be sent to you directly.

These forms are completed privately rather than through the public website. For children and adolescents, the parent or guardian completes the relevant forms.

  4. Payment & Booking

Therapy sessions are paid by EFT directly to The Play Way, in advance.

Your appointment is confirmed once payment or proof of payment has been received.

  5. Beginning

Once intake, consent and booking are complete, your therapeutic work can begin.

Sessions then continue according to what has been agreed between you and Kathryn, with the work shaped collaboratively as it unfolds.

A note on privacy

Clinical information is never collected through a public form.

There is a deliberate distinction between the enquiry process and the clinical intake process.

The enquiry form asks only for the information needed to understand what you are looking for and consider whether The Play Way may be an appropriate fit.

More detailed personal and clinical information is gathered privately, once your enquiry has been reviewed and you have decided to proceed.

Your privacy and confidentiality are treated with care throughout the process, in accordance with professional and legal requirements.

You do not need to tell your whole story in your first enquiry.

Ready to send a first enquiry?

You don't need to know exactly what you need before you get in touch.

Share as much or as little as feels comfortable. Kathryn reads each enquiry personally and will usually respond within two working days.
